The following Pacing Guides are for Russian Levels one through three.

Russian 1

By the end of each marking period, students can perform the following functions:

Marking Period 1

Unit 1:  Welcome to the Russian-speaking world

  • identify stereotypes about Russian-speaking cultures
  • follow some directions of my instructor during class
  • identify single words when said aloud
  • read simple words and word combinations in Russian
  • identify Russian letters when said aloud
  • greet appropriately, using formal/informal forms
  • identify and write down Russian numbers 1-20
  • identify and write down days of the week

Unit 2: My Russian Classroom

Functions/Objectives: I can...

  • check off words or phrases on a classroom scavenger hunt list
  • say what items are in the classroom
  • say what items I have and write a simple inventory
  • say where things are in the classroom using memorized words and phrases

Marking Period 2

Unit 3:  My Family and Friends

  • name my family members and something about them (age, interests, hobbies, jobs)
  • exchange information with my classmates about members of my family
  • create my (or imaginary) family tree

Unit 4: The Place Where I Live: My City and My Home
