Fueling up with breakfast has its perks. Not only are Freedom High School students better equipped to take on a day of learning, the prizes coming their way as winners in the Virginia Breakfast Challenge will help equip their technology and nutrition programs. The award includes funds to enhance the school nutrition program and $4,000 to support technology enhancements.
The statewide contest tracked breakfast participation from October through December 2015 and compared it to the same time period in 2016. The results show that more Freedom High School students than ever are starting their day off with a healthy breakfast at school. Their recipe for success? Making breakfast part of the school culture.
The same pattern is repeating throughout the School Division. PWCS has also earned an award in the Virginia Breakfast Challenge—the most growth over the last two years for a large school division. Doing the right thing has never tasted so good.
