Inspiring and generous. Those two words describe the students at Rosa Parks Elementary. These students were thoughtful and caring, using their fifth grade project to demonstrate not only self-expression, but to give back to the world community. Inspired by their Principal Susan Danielson, who helped to build an Elementary school in the Dominican Republic, these fifth graders tied community service to their International Baccalaureate exhibition projects.
The International Baccalaureate Primary Programme helps students to be not only well-rounded, but to look at the greater world around them. The students applied what they learned in their research projects to the real world and they launched a collection drive for sneakers, art supplies, books and money for medicine which were shipped to the same elementary school in the Dominican Republic.
Keep up the fantastic work, Rosa Parks Elementary! This school is leading the way in shaping the next generation of leaders.
