PWCS students aiming for teaching careers brought home honors from the Virginia Educators Rising competition held March 4.
Elizabeth Golden (pictured), a Stonewall Jackson High School student and the only freshman competing, won first place in the “Lesson Planning and Delivery–STEM” category.
John Novak and Tessa O’Neal, students at Battlefield High School, placed second in the category, “Researching Learning Challenges.”
Gar-Field High School students Jennifer Carranza and tiger-Lilly Cruz were second in “Children’s Literature.”
Lucy Gramajo de Leon and Norma Famirez, Gar-Field High School, were third in the "K-3 Children's Literature" category.
Close to 200 Educators Rising (formerly Future Educators Association) members from twelve Virginia school districts and twenty-six high schools competed and participated in conference activities. First- and second-place state award recipients are eligible to represent Virginia Educators Rising at the national conference and competition in June.
