Family Engagement Series

Focus on Wellness: Helping to Manage Students' Mental Health

March 16, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. – Live Virtual Session

This Family Engagement Series is open to families of English Learners, Title I, and/or Special Education students.

Join us while we explore what is mental health and the effects of COVID-19 on students. Strategies on how to manage stress, anxiety, sadness, and depression will be shared. Learn how parents and schools can help students manage their mental health. A discussion time and resources will be provided.

Presenter:
Anne Henry, Prince William County Public Schools, Administrative Coordinator of School Counseling K-12. Ms. Henry holds a master's degree in Counseling and Development and a certificate in Education Leadership from George Mason University. She is a National Board-Certified Teacher in School Counseling and was the 2009 Virginia Elementary School Counselor of the Year. She is a contributing author in the book Expressive Arts Interventions for School Counselors. Ms. Henry has presented on a local, state, and national level on educational and counseling topics such as project-based learning, No Place for Hate, and substance abuse prevention education programs. She is currently a member of the Virginia Department of Education social-emotional learning curriculum committee. She is dedicated to promoting student mental wellness, advocacy, leadership, and strengths-based skill building.

2020-21 Parents as Educational Partners Sessions

Our Division  offers sessions to help families acclimate themselves with the US educational system. The Parents as Educational Partners  programs (PEP) are available at many schools and at our Global Welcome Centers in both Woodbridge and Manassas. 

The PEP program includes:
